Quirky but charming 4 star hotel

This hotel has received mixed reviews on various travel sites, but we took a chance and were happy we did.

Yes, it's quirky -- made up of several old conjoined casas, you will, indeed, have to go up and down and around to find your room. It took the better part of three trips till we had the route down pat -- but that's part of the charm. The underground "grotto" passage is hysterical, complete with roman bath and faux inscriptions. Silly, but fun! This isn't a cookie-cutter modern hotel. There are, in fact, several elevators in the hotel so you can get away with very few stairs if you are so inclined...but you may have to get out one elevator, walk down the "hall", and into another. We never used them (but noted the bellmen did!)

The room itself was large, well-appointed as you'd expect for a 4 star hotel; a/c, cable tv, room safe, huge marble bath with jacuzzi and separate shower. Really comfortable bed and we slept like logs. Our room (#204) had three large windows and overlooked the little alley between two of the casas; it was very quiet.

And yes, attempting to approach the hotel by car is daunting ... forget about trying to maneuveur your car into the narrow alley, and let their porters do it (one will run out and get the car for you).

Perfect location right in the heart of things, five minutes walk to the main plaza/Cathedral/Alcazar, one block from the best flamenco at Casa des Memorias, two blocks from Modesto and the best coquinas. We paid 168 euros/night, plus 16 euros/night for parking. The hotel's website is awful; book through an agency. We used Seville5 and had no problems.

Incredibily charming hotel in the Santa Cruz area. {3 star}

I have stayed twice at this hotel and if I return to Seville, I would happily stay here again.

This palace from the 1600s has been turned into a charming and very atmospheric hotel. When I first walked into the beautiful courtyards and patio spaces I felt I had truly arrived in southern Spain. This 119 room hotel is very professionaly run with a friendly and helpful staff. The good sized rooms are furnished in authentic antiques, yet are very modern with reliable AC and a minibar. The bathrooms are clean and modern. The beds are very comfortable.

The breakfast buffet is extensive and you may also request food cooked to order.

Best of all, it is located in the heart of the historic Santa Cruz area of Seville, just steps from the cathederal. I feel that for the service, atmosphere and location that €180 for a double is a bargain. Highly recommended.
