Comfortable and affordable hotel in a great location in the centre of Madrid.

I had a hard time choosing a hotel in Madrid: the amount of possibilities was overwhelming! In the end I picked this one because I wanted free internet access and a good location. Actually, the choice was perfect. The hotel is in the best location ever, literally 10 steps away from the underground station of Gran Via. We walked practically everywhere. We bought a carnet of 10 tickets for the underground and only used 8 including the 4 we needed to go from the airport to the hotel and back. The transfert from the airport to the hotel by Metro cost 65 cents each!

We paid 80 euros per night, for a 3 star hotel. Breakfast was not included. If you wanted to have breakfast at the hotel, the price was 11 euros per person (they have the big buffet). We were happy to go to the bar on the corner (50mt) to have a cappuccino and a croissant for 2 euros.

The room was large and had a little balcony. The only weird thing in the beguinning was that the bathroom has a glass door... not transparent, but it's like being behind a bush, if you see what I mean!!! =o)

However, if you have no problems with this, the bathroom was really nice with a fantastic shower with body massage and hairdrier.

The bedroom had fre ADSL internet and a flat screen TV. Not that we used much of both, as we spent most of the time outside, of course.

I would recommend the hotel. I had read some negative reviews about rude receptionists, etc. The real problem in Madrid is maybe that nobody speaks English. And the receptionists who try to speak English are hardly understandable. I am Italian, so of course we communicate anyway. But I can see that being a problem for some people. Try to be understanding: in the end is the capital of Spain, so they are allowed to speak Spanish! =o)
