Regional specialties and a stunning view.

Directions: The restaurant (and hotel) are on the road going around the walled town of Laguardia. It is not hard to find and there is parking.

We stopped in for a long lunch one day at this hotel restaurant which seemed to have a lunchtime crowd of large groups of businessmen. The dining room has a great view over the vineyards, so we settled in for a long lunch with wine. We started with a salad "Illustrata" which was a basic salad with greens and a lot of canned stuff like tuna and corn - it was marginal - and a dish of "Pencas Rellenas" - cabbage (I think - might have been leeks) stuffed with ham and covered with a cream sauce. These were delicious. For our second course, we had a very fresh piece of cod that was slightly bland and could have used some lemon, but it was still very good. The best dish of the day was the Patatas a la Riojana - a fantastic stew of potatoes, red peppers and chorizo. It was very hearty and absolutely delicious.

The waiter recommended a bottle of wine for us - a reserve Al Campillo Rioja, and it was a very nice wine.

We paid €65.48 for this meal, but the fish was €19.50 and the wine was €18.00! If you went in for the Patatas Riojana and the wine alone, it would be an absolute bargain.
