2bed/2bath apartment in Estepona, Costa del Sol, Andalusia - Costa del Sol
When1 week, 1 week LocationThe Marina de la Duquesa complex is right on the beach, unlike a lot of other complexes in the small town. It is very close to the marina area where the shops and restaurants are. Some other complexes are a good distance away for a walk. Parking was underground. There are four good sized pools too and a small gym. The place was immaculately kept and the kitchen was well fitted. There was satellite TV which got BBC and a video and DVD player. The owners throughtfully provided an eclectic selection of films on video for the odd quiet night in and there was a place in the port that rented out films too. Nearby AmenitiesThere are too many restaurants to choose from! And the food was surprisingly good too. Lots of bars with entertainment laid on or just a place for a quiet drink. There's a shop a stone's throw from the complex, a bank with a cashpoint that even worked in English. There's an internet cafe, hairdressers, boutique. There's a taxi rank next to the shop too though public transport is lacking in the area. The House/ApartmentThe complex must have a couple of hundred apartments in it, all well spaced and planned for privacy. It's new, maybe a couple of years old and very well maintained and cleaned. GardenThere's a balcony with a lovely view of the sea. It gets the morning sun so it didn't get overhot in the afternoons. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe owners must use this apartment themselves as the furniture was good quality. It sleeps 4 so there was plenty of space for us all (2 adults and 2 kids). Bedrooms/Bathrooms1 double bed and 1 twin. The cotton sheets were pristine. They left us with towels too (in the cupboard). KitchenThere was everything of everything in the kitchen, though we only did breakfast and the odd lunch. Dishwasher and microwave, washing machine which we used a lot. Problems or BonusesThey were thoughtful enough to provide lots of loo roll (toilet paper) and dishwasher and washing machine powder. Agency and Representatives (and price)We booked direct with the owner on email. No problems. Cash went through on bank transfer. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Yes. Definately. Not in the heat of summer but mid season while it's still warm enough to swim. Do rent a car. Things to do in this areaReally all the restaurants we ate at were great. Pizza, Indian, a brilliant chinese "The Slow Boat". We did a day trip to Malaga and another to the Alhambra at Granada which was the abdolute highlight for me.
