2bed/2bath apartment in Estepona, Costa del Sol, Andalusia - Costa del Sol
WhenFeb 2005, 1 week LocationPuerto de la Duquesa is an untacky small seaside town at the Western side of the Costa del Sol. It's a mix of Spanish and English, lots of expats, but also real Spanish people too. The apartment has great views up the coast to Estepona and the mountains behind. In the other direction you can make out Gibraltar and even Africa I'm told. Very friendly. Nearby AmenitiesDuquesa Suites is just up the hill so quicker going down than up. We parked in the port but high season you may have to walk at least part way. The views are nice though. Loads of great restaurants; Chinese, Indian and Italian as well as Spanish. Bars and shops to keep you occupied. You can hire bikes and DVDs too. We were thinking about taking a tour to Morocco but didn't get around to it. Too lazy. The House/ApartmentThe complex is brand new. So new there's not photos of the inside on the web yet. It's a duplex apartment, two floors with a double bedroom with ensuite upstairs with its own balcony. We left the kids downstairs with a balcony off the sitting room. Garden3 balconies on the two floors so as the sun moved, so could we. 3 pools, a children's pool was useful for our little one. Small playground great for ours but too small for larger kids. Paddleball court. What is paddleball anyway? Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasTV was a super duper flat screen. The furniture is lovely, kind of Moroccan influenced. Corner sofa great to stretch out on. Very clean on arrival. Seating for 4. Bedrooms/BathroomsNice simple beds. Jacuzzi bath was a plus. Don't put in too much bubble bath though... 2 bathrooms, our own private one upstairs. Clean crisp white cotton sheets a dream to slip in between. KitchenThe kitchen has everything, more than we used. Too much eating out. It's nice to be able to have breakfast in though. Never used enough to fill the dishwasher but the owners had thoughtfully left dishwasher tablets (and loo roll and washing powder which we didn't use). Problems or BonusesThe views. Wonderful. The restaurants. We have to go back to try the ones we didn't get to. Agency and Representatives (and price)Friendly, informal discussions with the owner. Local agent was helpful when we couldn't work the safe. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?yes! yes! Recommend a car unless staying a short time. Toddlers would probably fall down the stairs. They have another apartment I think with no stairs. Things to do in this areaSlow Boat to China chinese restaurant. Taj Mahal Indian restuaurant. Dolphoin bar for lunch. Lord Kinsale for lunch and evening entertainment - didn't go for the Kareoke though. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
