2bed/1bath apartment in Nerja, Andalusia - Costa del Sol WhenMay 24 - 31, 2005, 8 days ReviewMy wife and I just returned from Nerja, Spain and had a wonderful time. Nerja was the third stop on our itinerary and a great place to kick back near the ocean with lots of things to do. We lived and traveled in Spain often, and stayed in Nerja several times. We intended to reserve an apartment at Casa Charlotte in Nerja again, but were disappointed that the apartments were not available at the time we would be there. We wrote about our 2001 stay at Casa Charlotte (www.casacharlotte.com) on Slow Travel. The owner, Frans Tytgat, offered us another apartment in Nerja nearer the ocean. We stayed for 8 days at the Carabeo 2000 apartment and this is our review. The Carabeo apartment, named after the Carabeo section of town, is a new apartment, fully equipped with everything needed to be comfortable. It's unusually large with many large windows and 2 balconies that have a view of the ocean in the distance. It's a 5-minute walk to the town center and closest beaches. It's not located in a holiday apartment complex. Its residents are owners and predominantly Spanish. It's on the second floor, quiet, and secure with keyed gates and dead bolted locks. The apartment is modern with two bedrooms, one good-size bath, and large kitchen with all modern appliances. Four people can be comfortable in this apartment, although it can sleep more. The floors are tiled, the beds comfortable, and the rooms have lots of wardrobe space. There is satellite TV in a large living/dining room; 2 couches and chairs. There are 3 eating areas; inside dining, kitchen table, and outside terrace. Everything is clean and well cared for. There is a rooftop for hanging out, sunbathing, or using the pool. Many stores, restaurants, and bars are nearby. Although you can buy bottled water, we drank the tasty tap water and had no problems. You won't need a car if you stay in Nerja. Frans and his wife Nuttee, met us when we arrived and as is their custom, took us for a snack and drink after we were settled into the apartment. They are both bi-lingual, offer personalized attention to their guests, and make them feel like they are visiting their home. I would certainly recommend the Carabeo 2000 apartment as I have Casa Charlotte. It's all about a clean, modern, safe, well equipped apartment situated in a beautiful seaside town that caters to English speaking visitors and offers access to many of the things that make Spain famous. Note from SlowTrav: Reviewer booked with www.rentinspain.org.uk - listing 1517 (but we could not get the URL for the listing to work, so we listed this with the Casa Charlotte website).
