We stayed at this amazing penthouse loft (albeit small) in the center of Barcelona. It's located near the Generalitat which is the base of the Catalan government. Just behind the Cathedral de la Seu the central location was absolutely perfect and surprisingly quiet for the Gothic Quarter. We are both seriously into food and the couple managing this property made our stay more complete than we could wish for.

They arranged a limo service to drive us out of town to one of the better restaurants I have been to in my life (No not El Bulli) called L'esguard. It was a tip that was right on the mark. Beautiful if pricey restaurant in a small village about an hours drive outside of Barcelona.

They also tipped us an amazing restaurant called Acai in the Poble Sec area. So their advises were great but the apartment itself was also perfect with a BBQ, a shower we used one warm summer evening and just the fact that you don't feel rushed. Staying in was a better than good option; reading on Catalan cuisine (books were inside the apartment) and a few nice novels about Barcelona's history.
