1bed/1bath apartment in Seville (Sevilla), Andalusia
WhenNovember 2008, 7 Nights LocationThe apartment is in a central location only a few minutes away from the Cathedral. It is located on a small but busy street surrounded by several cafes/bars and stores. Although it is a busy street, I liked the location for its convenience to the major sightseeing attractions and nearby cafes. Nearby AmenitiesThere are two very nearby grocery shops (one located just outside of the apartment building and the other just down the street) making it very convenient to buy groceries for my stay. There are several nearby cafes and restaurants only steps away from the apartment building. The House/ApartmentThe apartment is located in this historical building. There are a total of five apartments. My apartment was Arfe # 2. The entrance to the building is locked and you are given a key in addition to your apartment key to enter this secure door. There is no lift, so you have to walk up to your apartment. My room was located on the first floor so I had to walk up two flights which I didn’t think was so bad. The agency representative, Maria Jesus, even helped me carry my luggage up. I thought the apartment to apartment insulation was very good as I really did not hear my neighbors that much. My apartment had a little balcony and looked out onto the street below. There are two (very popular) bars located below and so if you have the window open you will hear the noise below. In the bar across the street there was even some singing going on, which I sort of found entertaining. Personally, I was not bothered by the noise, but if you are sensitive to noise and/or you prefer a quiet location you would definitely be bothered by the street noise. GardenThere is apparently a shared roof terrace that I was told I could use to hang my drying laundry and although I didn’t use it, it was good to know that it was available. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasI thought the apartment was furnished very well and found the apartment very bright because of its charming décor. I thought the entire apartment (especially the kitchen) was maintained really well and I found it very clean. There is a little table in the living area and a breakfast table with two stools by the kitchen. The apartment comes with a washer, which I found very helpful to have. It was easy to use too. The stove is gas and I had to light the stove with a match which is provided in the utensil drawer. Bedrooms/BathroomsMy double bed was two twin beds pushed together and I found it to be in pretty good shape and comfortable. The bedroom was created through a dividing wall from the living room. I thought that it was furnished really nicely. There is one bathroom, which had a stand up shower (small but adequate). The size was fairly good and I found it to be well kept and very clean. There was a good supply of towels left for me to last me the entire week which I really appreciated. KitchenThe kitchen was very well equipped and very clean. There was a nice collection of pots, dishes and utensils. I’m not a great cook on vacations but when I did find the time to prepare my meals I thought it was a very user friendly kitchen. You have to buy your own spices. Problems or BonusesThe street (Arfe) below seems to be well traveled and did have quite a bit of street noise. Agency and Representatives (and price)Sevilla5.com was very easy to work with. They were very responsive to all my inquiries and e-mails. The on site person who met me (Maria Jesus) was very nice and helpful. She even fixed my entry lock before she left because it was a little tight and she knew that I would have some difficulty. She must have worked on it a good 20 minutes before she felt comfortable to leave me. She also told me to feel free to call if I should encounter any problems or have any questions. I didn’t have any problems during my entire stay. I paid €420 for seven nights. I was asked to pay €84 (by credit card) in advance as a deposit and then upon my arrival pay the remaining balance in cash. I thought this was a very good price (very reasonable and cheap). Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? If I were to return to Seville again I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to good friends. However, if I knew that someone was looking for a place that was quiet, I would not recommend this apartment based on the level of street noise. Things to do in this areaThe location is very convenient and I walked everywhere. I had breakfast at a very nice café located across the street called Café Los Princepes. I also liked the nice little Churros stand that is located (on the right) down the street from the apartment. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
