apartments in Granada, Andalusia WhenSpring 2004, 4 nights LocationThe location is in the Albaicin, very near the Darro river. This is a wonderful, peaceful, perfect location for seeing Granada. The apartment itself was pretty quiet - stuff went on it other parts of the building and we could hear, but for the most part it was great. Nearby AmenitiesRight down the street there are plenty of bars and cafes, and a little grocery store. A ten minute walk and you are in the heart of Granada with lots of restaurants and a market area (near the Cathedral.) The House/ApartmentThe building is old but our apartment was newly renovated - it smelled of fresh paint. There are about six apartments in this building. The inner courtyard is very pretty with some nice touches from the owners. GardenThere is a terrace, very small (like a postage stamp) with views of the Alhambra. This is one of the reasons we booked this place. Sadly, the terrace was not available on our trip (some problem with the stairs). We were bummed at first but there are so many great outdoor cafes right down the street, it was no big deal. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasAll the furnishings in the apartment were in good shape and very appealing. Everything seemed new and clean. Bedrooms/BathroomsThis is a studio apartment, with two comfortable beds. They were pushed together so we moved everything around in the way we liked, then moved it back. The bathroom has a shower, no tub. KitchenThe kitchen was the only lame feature. It is a kitchenette good for coffee and light snacks and chilling wine - not for cooking! There was no can opener, just a few pans, no strainer. I think with some prompting the owner would get these things for the apartment. Problems or BonusesThe terrace was a bad surprise, but we quickly got over that. We loved this apartment, it was pretty and fresh and felt comfortable. There are giant windows and skylights looking up at the Alhambra. There is satellite TV with lots of crazy channels from all over the world. Agency and Representatives (and price)The agency was fine, and the owner, Clara, met us down the street at the appointed time and could not have been more nice. She did not speak much English. The reality of the apartment was better than the website. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would stay here in a heartbeat. Even without the terrace. I would not plan to cook though. Things to do in this areaThere are lots of great bars and cafes on the Carrera del Darro. You go down the street and make a left and there they all are, outside, in a lovely river-side setting, looking up at the Alhambra. I will write some up seperately for the restaurant list.
