In winter, most hotels in ski areas in Switzerland include half board, which we would strongly recommend (particularly with the weak dollar). You therefore want a hotel with a good location and good food. This hotel had both; it was a short walk to the (free) bus stop, and an easy walk to the Place Centrale. The food was excellent. Many locals stopped in for breakfast coffee and for dinner. It is well known for its cheeses, fondues and raclettes; the lamb, duck and steak were excellent, too. The rooms are small, with bathrooms and down pillows and comforters. They also have an internet computer available for use for free, which was fun. The service was quite good. Much of the staff spoke French (a plus for me). There is one person (Virginie) who speaks excellent English. While not fancy, this is a very pleasant three star hotel and we would choose it for our next visit to Verbier. By the way, we loved skiing in Verbier. And if you can, hire a guide who will take you off piste. It is spectacular! This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
