The couple who runs this nice 3 star hotel in Engelberg also rent a 5 star apartment, 1 bed/1bath with a second small bedroom, on the top floor of a private chalet (owners live in the chalet), with a balcony and beautiful view of Titlis. Just a few blocks from the center of this charming small town.

Grindelwald

Chalets Alderhorst and Berghof: www.grindelwald-apartments.ch
Family owned vacation rentals on the edge of Grindelwald (on a south facing slope that gets lots of sun). Rated as 5 star - top quality.

Kandersteg

Adams Alpine Eden: www.adamsalpineeden.com
A renovated (built in early 1900s) hotel in Kandersteg and turned into 4 vacation rental apartments. You can pay with a credit card and don't have to book Saturday to Saturday.
