Review 235: Davos Tourist Office, Hofguot

Review by Pauline from NM (moderator) who is a SlowTrav Contributor

studio apartment on the edge of Davos, Berner Oberland

August 1996, 1 week

We booked Hofguot, Hofstrasse 14, 7270 Davos Platz. This was an apartment in a small chalet-style building (maybe 6 apartments - most permanent rentals, not vacation rentals) at the edge of town. It was a lovely, quiet location, but Davos is a quiet town and it would have been better to be closer in. It was a long walk in to get groceries. Also, the keeper of the apartment had a heavy hand with the fabric softener and the strong smell from the bedding was horrible. We were never able to air it out. But the apartment itself was very nice.

It was a large studio apartment, maybe 500 square feet, with a pulldown bed. There was a small balcony overlooking the valley and the mountains. We had snow one day - at the end of August!

Good hiking in Davos. The town is a good size with several good restaurants and stores.
