I have so far visited 10 regions in Italy. This year, Piemonte became my inspiration, my 11th region. Because I knew little about Piemonte, I started by doing some general research about the area. I found that there was not that much out there. Thanks to the wonderful community of Slow Travel, I was able to get more information than any travel book could ever provide. I also was glued to the Torino Winter Olympic coverage. I knew I wanted to spend some time in Torino, but where else to visit? I thought about Asti and Alba, and then Acqui, but in the end I chose Saluzzo. I was warned by many that I simply must rent a car for this leg of my trip, but I have absolutely no sense of direction and get lost coming out of a store in a mall and so with the help of the Trenitalia website, I figured out a route that would work.
