Inside the riad
The first two were to Zimbabwe in 1991 and Peru in 2005. You may say that gave Morocco a lot to live up to - and you would be right.
I suppose I could find features common to all three places but the main feeling in Morocco was that Marrakech was so very different from anywhere else I have been. So why bother with preference order? I won't.
The flight with Thomsonfly from Manchester, England to Marrakech, Morocco was without complications and I arrived to a temperature of 30 degrees C at 19.00, having left at 15.20 at 12C.
I found Ahmad, the taxi driver who was meeting me and he took me into the city. Then he turfed me out into the care of Hamid, the manager of the riad where I'd booked. If it were not all so obviously above board, I might well have felt a bit strange following Hamid through ever narrower streets and lanes until we found the door to the riad in front of us.
Through the door and a short passage, we entered a delightful courtyard. I've done a hotel description of the Riad Arahanta, owned by two Scots and given a very warm write-up on another board. So I'll finish this page here.
