Report 1595: Turkey - The Turquoise Coast, Cappadocia and Istanbul, 2008

Trip Description: After spending three weeks walking and sightseeing in the Greek islands (Trip Report 1581), I continued to Turkey and spent a week walking the Turquoise Coast with a group from HF Holidays. After that, I traveled independently to amazing Cappadocia and then to Istanbul.

In the spring of 2008 I began planning a trip to Greece and Turkey. The Trip Report for the Greece part of this trip is at #1581 and can be found in the Web Resources section at the end of this report.

For the Turkey part of the trip, I began with a reservation with HF Holidays for a one week holiday walking the Lycian Way Oct 6 - 13. The Lycian Way is a long-distance footpath along the Turquoise Coast of Turkey that connects the cities of ancient Lycia. HF Holidays is a British walking company which I had walked with in Italy and Spain many times previously. I always enjoy their style of moderately-priced hotels, good leaders and challenging walks and sightseeing in some wonderful locations.

My plan originally was to go to Istanbul when the walking holiday was finished. I made a reservation to fly home from Istanbul Oct 22.

I used Turkey Travel Planner on the web to plan a lot of my Turkey trip. They recommended Anker Travel for reservations, so I made my hotel reservation in Istanbul through them.
