Swimming at Kabak

I was awakened at 6am by the Call To Prayer coming from loudspeakers at the top of the mosque in Olu Deniz. The Call to Prayer is made five times a day beginning at 6am.

After breakfast, Hassan took us to Faralya, the tiny beach community where we had ended our walk the day before. Our five-mile walk along the footpath had great views. About noon, we came to 'Mama's' pansayone. We had coffee and then hiked down to the beach at Kabak, a beautiful little beach with almost no one around. We went swimming and sunned a little, then some of us hiked back up to "Mama's.' Another group went with Ismet to hike the trails in the area some more.

Mama made her famous pancakes for our lunch - they were big pancakes filled with onions and herbs and some spices. I also had a glass of yogurt drink, which is considered very special by the Turkish people. It is plain yogurt mixed with water, and it is very refreshing.

Hassan met us at Mama's and took us back to the hotel. This would be our last night in Olu Deniz, and Sara's last night with us. She would be leaving to guide another group.

Our hotel had a special dinner this evening with many Turkish treats. Then folk dancers came and did a number of very good folk dances for us. Finally there was a belly dancer, who Sara said was not very good at belly dancing. However, she was having fun, and wanted us to have fun, and she ended up with probably half the people in the audience dancing with her. We all had a good time.
