The LazyJack Inn from Dogwood Harbor Oil painting is a source of enjoyment in my life. Am I a great or even very good artist? No. Will I ever be? Probably not, especially with the few hours a week that I find time to paint. I often dreamed of time away to paint, no job, no household duties, no distractions. This year, with no big vacation planned I decided to take an outdoor painting workshop not terribly far from my suburban Philadelphia home. Five days of painting on the Eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay under the tutelage of prominent landscape artist, Gavin Brooks, looked very appealing. I found my own lodging using the Talbot County tourist website and Google Earth to scope out locations. I decided on the LazyJack Inn in the town of Tilghman, a short drive to the painting locations. The LazyJack Inn was not the least expensive lodging, but I felt the fancy breakfasts, charm and character would be worth it. For most evening meals I planned to heat frozen dinners in the guests microwave to save money and to avoid ballooning up several sizes. In addition after a busy day painting outdoors I’d rather relax with a book instead of going out to dine alone. |
