> SlowTrav > Trip Reports Report 1610: Dispatches From History - Inauguration 2009By Casole from MA, Winter 2009 Trip Description: January 19-21 "Road trip to change" Casole and her mother go on a group bus ride down to DC to see President Obama's inauguration. Destinations: Countries - North America; Regions/Cities - Other North American region Categories: Independent Travel; 2 People Page 1 of 10: An Idea is FormedWe started talking about it before the Democratic primaries were over. If Barack Obama were to win the Presidency would we, could we go to the Inauguration? Naively I started looking at sites that would sell tickets. We could just pay a couple of hundred dollars, have ticketed seats and be all set. I left my name and number with a couple of ticket brokers, and waited. I also stumbled upon a site call "obamainauguration2009". Two brothers, Horace and John Mackey were organizing buses from all over the country in an event they billed "Roadtrip to Change," their mission to provide affordable transportation for people from all over to come together and witness history. For a small deposit of $32.00 I reserved two spaces, and waited. |
