Next day was another real treat. Colleen drove me into town, where I met Mindy (Pokey on SlowTalk forums). She took the day off from work (unfortunately, Colleen couldn't get the day off), and became my personal tour guide for the day! We met at the Isabella Gardner Museum, which is a real Boston treasure. I only wish I could share some photos of this place with you, but it’s “verboten” to shoot pictures there. What an amazing space, and could Isabella collect! The museum was just filled with paintings, tapestries, furniture, you name it – all from her travels around the world. During her life, she enjoyed Extreme Wealth, and dedicated her life to collecting fine art and artifacts. I think she may have been an original hoarder – not really! What she erected on that space is truly a gift to the world. Loved it.

After the museum, Mindy and I hopped on the trolley and headed to the North End, Boston’s Little Italy, where we met up with fellow SlowTravel buddy Andrew, who was passing through Boston and had a few hours layover time. A mini-GTG! Mindy selected a most delicious Italian bistro, L’Osteria, where we enjoyed some classic dishes like spaghetti Bolognese, chicken cacciatore, and chicken Marsala – all done perfectly. After lunch, we strolled around little Italy, snapping photos and stopping in all shops Italian.

We said goodbye to Andrew, and then walked across town to the very fashionable and chi-chi Newbury Street, where we met Colleen for dinner at a French bistro called Bouchee Brasserie. A perfect end to another fabulous day in Boston.
