Airport Beach

My original plan for today was to take the ferry over to Moloka'i, rent a car and explore the island - BUT the ferry doesn't run on Sunday - looks like we'll be doing that on Tuesday.

OK, so we go the Plan B, beach time - the same one we visited briefly yesterday, but guess what? It has more than one name. On some maps it's shown as part of Ka'anapali Beach, but this area north of Black Rock is also called Kahekili Beach Park and the locals call it Airport Beach. Whatever the name, it's a great place for a morning swim, with a boardwalk most of the way to Black Rock and parking available whenever we go there. OK for snorkeling, SCUBA and paddle boarding as well as just relaxing on the beach. And less than a mile from where we are staying.

Into Lahaina in the afternoon to meet up with David and Marcel at the Pioneer Inn, a 1901 vintage building at the harbour. They love staying there - big room, heritage features, an excellent choice for breakfast and lunch, and a great place for a drink in the afternoon. We took a short walk along Front Street and had pizza at the Lahaina Pizza Co. Several of the popular, as opposed to expensive, restaurants along Front Street are on the second floor with other retail business below. The most desirable tables are along the outside, facing either the street or the water, depending on the location of the restaurant. It is worthwhile to try to reserve one of those locations in advance
