The sea at Bari

Another gorgeous day, almost hot already.

I went to the train station to get the train to Bari. This train, the Lucanian Railway, does not connect to Calabria so I was not able to use it to get to Matera. It connects only to Bari, and the ride was fast and easy.

I had to go to Bari to get a plane for the next leg of my trip, to Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Bari is on the eastern coast of Italy, just above the heel, in the region of Puglia. I stayed overnight at the Hotel Boston. It was well located for walking around. I walked a long way by the sea, walked through the old part of town, had the best gelato of my life, and enjoyed the passegiata in the shopping streets. The next morning I flew to Rome, then Zagreb, Croatia, then finally Dubrovnik. My Trip Report for Croatia is 1949.
