Les arenes

We had a huge quad room with a very big bathroom for a €105 discount rate. In Arles the hotel was extremely well located, next to a downtown parking area and right in front of the tourist office. It was very easy to walk everywhere in Arles from the hotel and in particular very easy to get in and out on the Saturday market day. Les Lices street in Arles was closed on Saturday. Some of the hotels located in the old town have only pedestrian access, but this hotel had very good access.

The hotel was very clean and well maintained, all personnel were nice and very polite. The swimming pool was very small but all was clean; we didn't use it staying in Arles only one night, but other people seemed happy. It had air conditioning and an elevator. It is not a typical Provence hotel, but a modern and comfortable hotel. We would stay there again.

After we completed our tour of Arles with the small train we walked back to a restaurant by les arenes. I had spotted it during our visit of Arles. Husband and son went with crepes with ham and cheese and mushrooms with a fried egg on top, very tasty and filling. And I decided to try the plate of the day as it was lamb for only €10. My lamb roast with provencal herbs arrived on a big plate with ratatouille, roast potatoes and fries. Everything was so good with half a bottle of a rose from Provence. I had to share my fries, it was too much for me, €45 for the three of us including wine.

Arles was small and interesting to visit with a few Roman sites including the Arenes.

Don't miss the market in Arles, it is spectacular and plenty of excellent food to take for a picnic. We purchased paella, a roast chicken and some acras, all were delicious.

To be honest on this trip I missed very much Roussillon and all the flowers of Provence.
