Page 8 of 28: Brantome - Dinner at St. Sicaire, Breakfast in Old Brantome

Brantome in the morning

After our visit to Brantome in very nice and sunny weather, we walked around to choose a restaurant. We went to Charbonnel at first (the renowned restaurant in Brantome), but a very nice lady there explained all the tables on the terrace were booked and offered us a table inside. It was a Friday night, so it was normal, but we didn't feel like eating inside as the weather was so warm and pleasant. So we crossed the small bridge and asked for a table at the brasserie St Sicaire. All first row tables by the river were reserved, but we could sit in the second row. It was still very pleasant.

I wasn't too hungry, so I decided on a lamb rack and we ordered a bottle of rose wine. My husband went with an €18 menu and our son chose the quiche, which came with a salad and fries. Many families were having their meal there, the atmosphere was relaxed. My husband chose gesiers confit salad which was huge, but very nicely presented and colored. I had to help him a bit with this appetizer. Then he had a duck confit and my lamb arrived in a big plate with small square fries and salad. It was perfectly cooked, slightly rose and was very tasty. Then my husband didn't have much room for a dessert, so he gave his ice cream to our son. The ice cream was very nicely presented and was big. We could spend our evening there and could watch the boat fights (joutes).

It was a very good and pleasant meal in nice weather. I can recommend this place.

In the morning, and after a good night sleep, we went for a walk and a breakfast to old Brantome. We found a patisserie/boulangerie and sat outside with our cafe and croissants. This is when our son got addicted to the strawberry and raspberry tartelettes. As he returned to buy the second one, I heard the woman there laughing, she found him cute and was talking to him, and finally served him the most beautiful tartelette she had.
