Page 4 of 9: Warsaw to Vilnius - Meeting our Group

The cheapest way to get from Warsaw to Vilnius is by bus. Next cheapest is train. But we decided to spend a few dollars more and fly. Airports may be annoying, but I'd rather wait in security lines then spend an entire day watching fields and cows go by. Trains don't excite me anymore.

We met our group in Vilnius, Lithuania. In some ways I can see the benefits of the package tour: minimum responsibility, no shlepping luggage, no decisions on where to stay or how to get from point A to point B. In a word, easier. Bob loves all that. I do enjoy the camaraderie that develops, but don't like my days so planned. Our tour group of choice is Overseas Adventure Travel, as it is reasonable in price, has a maximum of 16 people, and always offers educational opportunities. Some free afternoons too.

We stayed in a hotel in the Old Town and had free time to walk around on our own and shop for amber! Amber is the big deal in the Baltics.
