Mr. Big Stuff 2012 -Zulu Krewe

For breakfast the next day walked a bit further beyond the Cake place to Who Dat Coffee and Cafe Nero on Burgundy only to find that the cafe was being renonvated. The good news is they are going to start serving dinner, the bad news is we wouldn't be around when they re-opened! Ah well, we had some coffee, and I wrote in my journal. The cafe au lait here was better than Cafe du Monde. We decided we'd eat back at the Cake Cafe.

I had a crab omelet with spinach and brie and hubby had the biscuits with gravy and sausage. The omelet was outstanding, fresh blue crab, light fluffy egg, just enough brie and fresh spinach. Hubby's was just as good. I am now officially addicted to chicory coffee.

After some more shopping and browsing and napping during the day, we headed out to the Bayou St. John for the 2012 Midcity Bayou Boogaloo. A three day festival, we were able to go Friday evening and hear some great music from the Brassaholics, Mia Borders, and Papa Grows Funk. There were food stands galore, about 70 artist/artisan tents, and of course the bands. It was such a well organized event and all free.

We had meat pies from Cane River Meat Pies, daiquiris, blue crab beignets with pepper jelly sauce (to die for) from Ralph's on the Park and my all time favorite dish of the entire trip, crawfish etouffee over fried eggplant from The Catering Connection. Ice cream for dessert. It was a wonderfully fun events with lots of families, and people dancing, eating and just having a blast. Fortunately it wasn't too hot at that time.
