The ferry ride from Naples to Palermo, overnight on the SNAV, was unexpectedly pleasant, in spite of the bunkbeds! We watched the harbor recede and had a gorgeous, mild, starry night which illuminated the bay as night came in. The little room was spotless and comfortable and we had brought a picnic dinner and wine and had no trouble finding a good spot to park and enjoy it. The biggest drawback is there is no passenger gangplank so expect to lug your suitcase(s) up two flights of rubber carport entry. Arrive early if you want to use the lift from the third floor (which is where the gangplank trek will leave you) to your room floor (we were on eight) because the lift is small and we were very glad we had come before the crowds. Tips for older travelers:

Do not race to leave the boat: all cars must be off before passengers are allowed to leave on foot down the same perilous car gangplank and this can take up to an hour from landing.
Park yourself with some coffee at a table by the café and wait patiently.
