Page 21 of 24: Arriving in Bandol

Provence valleys in sunset, view from Bonnieux

When we arrived in Bandol we were lucky and got a parking place right in front of our apartment. It is hell trying to park in the port and the beach. We walked to our apartment where the owner was waiting for us. The apartment was nice and big, and had all amenities including a dish washer and air conditioning. The views were beautiful overlooking the port, while the two bedrooms faced a quiet walking street behind the building. We were on the first floor, and the building, despite the old exterior construction, was completely redone inside and had an elevator. It was 200 meters to Renecros beach. The balcony had a small table and chairs with allowed us having our meals there with the sea view and in the middle of action. We could people watch from there but also see fireworks and listen to all the concerts Bandol had. It was paradise. Very close to all stores, markets and promenades, restaurants, and transportation. Our hosts were Canadians and I paid for the stay by a Canadian cheque. The kitchen was well equipped, and I cooked meals. For example I roasted a chicken I purchased fresh, and with Provencal herbs it was beautiful and delicious.
