Page 2 of 14: Arrival in Lima

Miraflores coast

We were met in Lima by our driver Renato who would also give us a tour of the city the next day. Driving in Lima is nuts.

Two lanes are used as four. We only saw two women drivers the entire trip. Crosswalks are considered decoration for the street. People run out in the street randomly and are missed by inches on a regular basis. A mix of private buses (colectivos) of varying mechanical quality, registered and rogue taxis, private cars, motorcycles and contraptions called mototaxis share the roadway.

Loved that companies advertise along the freeways by planting flowers in the shape of their logos.
