We had the porter help us pack Dusty. 4 wine cases. 3 pieces of luggage, 3 carry one, 3 personal items. We did leave behind the bottle of white wine from Villa La Nina which the porter took as a tip. I felt a little bad at giving him such a lousy wine and I did tip him in euro as well. We got to the airport with plenty of time to spare and checked in. At Roma airport there was not even a question of how much wine we were carrying (the last trip at Firenze we were told that taking 3 cases of wine home was immoral). In fact we did not even have to pay for the extra piece of luggage! The line for the tax refund was too long so we bagged it. I only had one receipt for about $30.00 refund so it was no big deal. We had a snack of bad airport food and then our flight was called.

Theonly real hitch of the trip came at Customs and even that was not a problem. The guy looking at our declaration just could not understand why anyone would have 4 cases of wine. He asked me if it was for resale about 10 times before letting us go, with a "large" excise tax bill to pay- $12.15! He asked us "When was the party?"
