Our route

My husband and I went on a trip to England, Scotland and Wales in August 2000, and had a wonderful time. Here are some pictures and my travelogue...

I decided to go on my trip to Scotland in January, 2000, when I heard, via the McKenzie genealogy circles, that there was going to be a Clan McKenzie world gathering at our ancestral home in Scotland in August 2000. Well, I decided that this would be a wonderful opportunity to meet 400 of my relatives, so I started saving and planning for my boyfriend and I to go.

We managed to secure plane tickets through Northwest Airlines for $550 each, round trip, from West Palm Beach to Gatwick in London, via Detroit. We paid for a bed and breakfast package for two weeks, reserve as you go, plus a rental car for $1300. All we had to do now is wait... and wait...;

As the day of our departure, August 8th, approached, I got more and more nervous especially as Jason did not yet have his passport! He had procrastinated the application until the end of June, (partly due to lack of funds), and found out a week before we left that they had lost his application. He sent in for an emergency application, and got it in the mail the day before we left... Whew! Here we go!!
