Neighbor Donna and Mr. Fukuda

April 10 - The next day is Sunday and although they are not Christian, they opt to join us at Mass at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in town. They find the service very interesting and we meet some friends outside after church, and the Fukudas, (especially the Mr.), are dazzled by their All-American good looks and want pictures taken with them (hate to say this, but this is another typical Japanese thing!)

After lunch, we get ready to go to Colgate University. Since it is April, school is still in full swing and we are privileged to be able to attend a chamber program that includes a duet with Colgate professor and concert violinist, Laura Klugherz and U. of Alaska professor and international soloist Linda Rosenthal. Since we are regulars (and Professor Klugherz is our daughter’s violin teacher), we know many of the people and performers who are usually at the concert and the after concert reception is a blur of introductions. We’d also met Linda before as our daughter had interned with her at the Chenango Music Fest last year and reminded her about the invitation she had to come to our home. (We live in a log home and she had wanted to see it!) The drive up to and down from the chapel where the concerts are held give us a nice view of the beautiful Colgate campus.
