Once we got a chance to ski, the skiing was somewhat uncomfortably cold but the snow conditions were magnificent. The vistas of the French Alps were marvelous as always. Yes, we come for the scenery. Yes, we come for the huge amount of skiable terrain and the incredibly long runs. But most of all we come to ski with friends. The memories of the trip can be summed up in one word. Laughter. We laughed a lot, almost continuously. We had a week of four people, with complimentary senses of humor, having a great relaxing time talking and laughing as we have on many previous occasions.

Carol had the same objective she always has on this trip: avoid the téléski. We did not take a poma the entire week; mainly because most of them have been replaced by modern high speed detachable lifts some serving as many as eight people.

Greedy CJ on the other hand had six objectives on our arrival: exercise the demons of the slope called “sache” on the way to Tignes Les Brévières below the dam; “ski” La Piste Perdu (the lost slope); ski off piste run to the Isère river; take the Funiculaire to the La Grande Motte Glacier at Tignes; ride the steep chair; and snowboard both Val d’ Isère and Tignes. Although he only accomplished two goals, it was still a wonderful trip. And besides, guess we just have to go back and pick up the other four!
