Pleasant large room, reticent hosts.

Nottingham B&B -- Ragnall House, photo by Christy Nicholas, (c) August 2000

We stayed at this B&B for one night using a voucher plan, and found the place quite nice. We came early (around 2pm) and they checked us in right away. Since we were jetlagged, it was wonderful to nap for about 5 hours before heading out for dinner.

The room was very large (two single beds, lots of room in between them and around the sides). The room was on the second floor in an addition (used to be the farmhouse) to the house, but the bathroom was on the first floor, and was tiny. The room had a television and a heater, though in August we didn't need the latter.

The beds were a bit soft for our tastes, but the view out the window was sublime, and the area quiet. Though there was a street on the other side of the house, no noise made it into the back.

The breakfast was wonderful, and of course more than we were used to. There was a choice of cereals (I chose the equivalent of raisin bran), apple juice, coffee, tea, milk, eggs, ham (sort of like canadian bacon), sausage, toast, fried tomato -- definitely plenty to fill us up!

The hostess was efficient, but barely said hello and goodbye to us. Not exactly unfriendly, but certainly not chatting us up either. We appeared to be the only guests that night.

Warning for those that come in late: If you decide to eat after 8-9 pm, be prepared to travel a couple of towns away for food!
