Cotswolds 16th Century Manor House hotel & restaurant. All non-smoking.

My teenage daughter and I were traveling thru the Cotswolds and stayed at this lovely hotel right off the main square in the village of Stow-on-the-Wold.

We arrived at Stow-on-the-Wold in the last afternoon after spending all day driving thru and visiting small villages along winding country roads. In one of my travel guides it mentioned the Stow Lodge as a nice place to stay and I just happened to be parked on the square very near the entrance.

The Stow Lodge is set-back from the square and is surrounded by lovely gardens and a old Church is next to it. Since it was converted into a hotel, it has been run by the same family, which is now in its third generation. The hotel is non-smoking throughout, which was a real blessing for us to get away from the smoking that is allowed in most places in England.

They have a restaurant in the main building and I found out that some people spend the weekend at the lodge just to eat at the restaurant. My daughter doesn't eat meat and they have at least one vegetarian entree each night.

Our room was on the second floor and overlooked the old church and cemetery. It was really peaceful, even with the church bells. There are other rooms in the main building that overlook the gardens and the coach house has been converted into a cute row of rooms.

All bedrooms include: private bathroom, color television, beverage making facilities, hairdryer, direct dial telephone, electric fan and radio. The room rates included a full English breakfast that was served in the restaurant.

Both my daughter and I agreed that it was the best night's stay that we had on that trip. We are going to England again in March 2005 and I have booked 2 nights at Stow Lodge so my husband can enjoy it too. See the web sight and how beautiful it is.
