Lovely friendly hotel located adjacent to Blenheim Palace, the home of Winston Churchill. Village location close to Oxford and countryside.

We stayed here for a long weekend earlier this year and we really enjoyed the experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable and the location great.

We ate in the restaurant which was excellent, with good attentive service.

The hotel is ideally located to visit Blenheim Palace (the entrance is just at the end of the main street where the hotel is located) and also Churchill's grave is in the neighbouring village. For real ale drinkers there is an abundance of pubs serving local brews. We also visited the Trout at Wolvercote -- a local inn which is featured in the Inspector Morse detective series. This is an idyllic location for drink on th terrace beside the weir, but we did not eat here as on a previous visit the food was mediocre.

I would recommend the Bear as an ideal weekend break destination for visiting Oxford and surroundings.
