Absolutely outstanding Turkish restaurant, food cooked over true Turkish open coal fire in front of you. Great prices. Good for meat eaters and vegetarians alike.

Directions: A few minutes' walk from Victoria Station.

This restaurant is right near me and I've eaten there frequently, both for take-away and eating in. You can smell the aroma from a block away. It's always bustling as it's very popular with locals and visitors. Open noon to midnight.

The staff, both behind the counter doing the cooking on the coals, and the wait-staff are friendly and gracious, and take the time to explain anything you wish. The menu is written with the Turkish names of the dishes and an explanation in English. Staff are Turkish, so they know what they're doing.

When you walk in, right there is the front of the open coal pit where everything is prepared. This is done in authentic Turkish style. The meat and vegetables, already on skewers, are in a kept-cool counter behind glass, where, if you're going for take-away, you choose what you want and it gets passed to the cook at the coals.

There aren't an over-abundance of tables, but this makes it cozy, as opposed to annoying that you may have to wait for a table at night. The coal pit is within eye range so you can watch the goings-on and know just about when your own is done.

If you're vegetarian, there are many dishes to choose from. The grilled tomatoes, aubergines and peppers are wonderful.

This restaurant has been given across-the-board highest marks from everyone I've spoken to and there are positive written reviews as well. You know when you're getting close to the place as you can smell it in the air. If you aren't overly hungry when you're about there, you will be when you walk in and get a whiff!

If you are ever in London and get the chance, don't miss this restaurant!
