Directions: Just off the main street, Eastgate, near the clock We were taken to this restaurant on Saturday night and can recommend it as a place serving excellent - really excellent - food, in a relaxed atmosphere. The service was friendly and efficient, the wine list good and reasonably priced. What makes it outstanding is the manner and standard of cooking. The owner is also the chef and came out at the end to say hello. We shared several mixed platters, having been given a choice of Chinese and Italian, which were full of interesting and slightly unusual things. Most of us had fish as a main course. I had fish casserole, and can quite honestly say it was the nicest fish dish I have ever eaten, and inspired me to write this review. My husband had the halibut, and is of a similar opinion. My fish came with a dish of buttered spinach, and we all shared side orders of jenga chips and fried courgettes. Delicious. Some of our party had locally sourced steak, and said it was good. Didn't manage a dessert, though the selection looked good, but did try a couple of lovely tequila slammer drinks, made with galliano and a some sort of coffee. In fact, would have tried a couple more but the tequila ran out! It is not difficult nowadays to find good food in English restaurants, the issue for me is the high prices charged.
