2bed/2bath apartment near Holland Park, London WhenJanuary 2007, 1 week LocationThe apartment was located in the heart of Holland Park, exactly midway between the park and the tube station and easy walking distance from Portobello market. It was perfectly located for going into the West End as it was on the central line. The area of Holland Park is beautiful and very safe, which was a priority as I was travelling with my wife and daughter. Nearby AmenitiesEverything we needed was available close by. There were coffee shops, restaurants, take aways, and a few nice quiet pubs. I didn't have a car with me and honestly didn't ever feel like I needed one. London is very easy to get around and we were minutes from the tube station. The House/ApartmentWe were very happy with the apartment and felt immediately at home there. It was very spacious and bright and came with all the modern conveniences you'd expect. It was furnished and decorated very nicely and basically lived up to what we'd been told, which was a very nice, quiet apartment of a very high standard. GardenThere was no garden or outside space but the flat was big enough that we didn't feel that we needed it. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasIt was nicely furnished with more than enough space for the three of us. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe apartment came with two double bedrooms and two bathrooms so there was more than enough room for the three of us! We were pleased with the comfort of the beds. KitchenThe kitchen was adequate but not huge. It did include everything we needed though and since we ate out most evenings we didn't really get to use it for more than breakfast and making a few sandwiches. Everything was easy to find though and seemed to be of a good standard. Problems or BonusesNo surprises here, the apartment was exactly as described and the area too. If anything the area was nicer than I'd expected. I've stayed in London many times but Holland Park was more quiet and safe feeling than anywhere I'd stayed before and that was a bonus. Agency and Representatives (and price)The agency were very helpful and friendly and we were happy with the price. The apartment was exactly as it had been described to us. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would definitely recommend; the area is perfectly located if you want to be close to the West End yet its quiet and safe. There's plenty close by to amuse yourself and your family for a few days and you're so close to the central line that access to anywhere in London is quick and easy. Things to do in this areaPortobello Market and Holland Park are the two obvious ones but also Notting Hill is close by. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
