3bed/2bath house near Ballyhahill, Ireland WhenJune 26 - June 30, 5 days LocationThe home is located in a wonderful, rural area about 30 miles west of Limerick. It was secluded, with a long, beautiful drive off of a small, seldom traveled road. Marie & Jim (owners) own the farm surrounding the home. A small stream flows near the house, giving a wonderful sound of water at all times. Nearby AmenitiesYou could walk from the house to the town of Ballyhahill, but it was a short drive, perhaps two miles. There is a small, but fully stocked store in the town. Just a few miles further is Glin, which has a much larger store. The House/ApartmentThe pictures do not do this home justice. It was absolutely beautiful. Large and spacious in every room. Marie and Jim have spared no expense in making this a magnificent place to stay. The beds are perhaps the most comfortable I have ever slept on. The main bathroom has both a large whirlpool tub and a computer controlled shower/steam room. There is also a sauna in the hallway. There are no other rentals on the 160 acre property. You did not feel you were in some slapped together cottage rental, you felt you were in someone's home that they really cared about. You can view the property directly: Hazel Cottage. They also have their own website, Hazel Cottage. GardenOut the back door there is a large patio area with a huge wooden triangular table and slatted benches. Surrounding the patio is a fantastic garden full of flowers and plants. Behind the garden area is one of Jim's cattle fields, holding perhaps 20 head of yearling calves. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasWow, this is all I can say on this. This place is spotless. The dining room had seating for perhaps 10, with many antiques. The living room had two couches and chairs each. Bedrooms/BathroomsAs I said before, the beds were absolutely top of the line. I only wish I could bring the one home we slept in. KitchenIt is huge, with every appliance imaginable. You could cook a meal for a very, very large group here, with the double oven, flat top range, microwave and large refrigerator. Plus miles of counter top. Problems or BonusesIt was far beyond what I expected in size, quality and beauty. Agency and Representatives (and price)We booked through Self Catering Ireland, but the owners handled everything. The price was excellent ($600 for a week), plus about $20 for electricity. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?ABSOLUTELY!!! The owners are fantastic, the house is fantastic, the location is fantastic. Things to do in this areaOne of the things that makes this place great is it's central location. Drive south you are on the Ring of Kerry and/or Dingle peninsula, drive north, using the nearby ferry over the Shannon and you are soon at the Cliffs of Moher. Drive east and you are in Limerick.
