Review 3758: Coach House London Vacation Rentals, Cambridge Street (CAM2)

Recommended.  Review by Amy C from Canada

2bed/1.5bath apartment in Pimlico, London

When

July 2008, 8 nights

Location

CAM2 is located in Westminster, London, England. It is a 10-15 min. walk from Victoria station, and closer to Pimlico. The house is in a beautiful, upscale, and very safe area of London. It was close to the houses around it (but what place isn't in London!), but you wouldn't know it. The streets surrounding the house are very quiet and there was rarely traffic. The location was perfect for sightseeing, you are so close to Victoria station (Victoria, Circle, District lines, and Gatwick Express), and walking distance to Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, etc. I don't think we could have picked a better location for our trip!

Nearby Amenities

There were many convenience stores, grocery stores, and restaurants within walking distance of the house. There were convenience stores and good restaurants right on the same street as the house. There were small grocery stores at Victoria station and larger ones within a 15 min. walk. There were countless other restaurants in the area. The location made it very easy for us to pick up groceries on the way back to the house, or just to go out and grab something quickly.

The House/Apartment

CAM2 is a converted coach house. The house was absolutely beautiful and about as peaceful and quiet as you can get in downtown London! The house has two floors; the living room, kitchen, dining room, and bathroom/laundry are on the main floor and the two bedrooms and the main bathroom are upstairs.

Garden

There was a very large private garden in the back. It was very secluded and quiet, we didn't feel like we were in the middle of one of the busiest cities in the world! It was so nice to enjoy all our meals outside. There is no pool. There was also an area at the front of the house to park a small car, a bonus if you are driving in London!

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was in great shape; a little scary when traveling with a one year-old! Everything was comfortable and there were enough seats to go around. The house was very clean and well looked after. There was Internet access and enough TV channels for my husband!

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The beds were very comfortable and there was lots of drawer and hanging space for our clothes. Once again the furnishings were in great shape. The upstairs bathroom was very nice and clean. It had a sink, toilet, bidet, and a tub with an over-shower. The downstairs bathroom/laundry was not as nice but still usable. The washing machine and dryer were new.

Kitchen

The kitchen was very usable and you can easily cook full meals in it. There were lots of good quality dishes, utensils, and pots and pans. The refrigerator was small by North American standards but there was a full size oven and dishwasher.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Coach House rentals was fabulous through the entire booking process. The process was efficient and they were always very prompt to answer any questions. Our greeter at the house was also great (she did speak English as we were in England), she told and showed us everything we needed to know and then left promptly, which was nice after a long journey! When we were leaving to go home she even offered to drive us to the train station (which was so nice as we had a lot of bags and a one year-old!). There were no surprises, everything was exactly as described by the agency. CAM2 was £125 per night (July 2008) plus an administration fee.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would stay at CAM2 again in a heartbeat! I would recommend it to my best friend, my mother, on anyone else that asks! I also recommend Coach House Rentals and we will definitely book through them on our next trip to London, Paris, or New York.

Things to do in this area

We did too many things to list, it was London!
