2bed/1bath house, Chipping Campden, Cotswolds, Heart of England

When

November 2001, one week

Location

Chipping Campden is one of the loveliest towns in the Cotswolds. Pear Tree Cottage is located in the center of the town on Sheep Street, a very short distance from the main street. The cottage is off the street, in a very quiet location. There is a private garden and small patio. We absolutely loved this cottage.

Nearby Amenities

The cottage is in the center of a delightful village which offers all traditional services and amenities, plus a number of clothing shops and other interesting stores. Everything is within walking distance. There is an old inn on the corner by this cottage and several other pubs and restaurants in the village. There's a delightful collection of bakers, butchers, grocers and merchants of all sorts making grocery shopping a delightful experience.

The House/Apartment

This cottage is perfect! It is a semi-detached stone cottage. It is quite old but in excellent condition. It contains a living room, small separate dining room, sunroom, kitchen, and two bedrooms. It is very comfortably furnished and made totally home-like by the owner-manager.

Garden

There is a small garden with a patio area, totally private. There is no pool.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was lovely, very comfortable, new and in excellent condition. The owner of this cottage has made a great effort to create a perfectly home-like atmosphere and she has totally succeeded.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The beds were comfortable, and the bedrooms were well furnished. There is only one bathroom, located upstairs next to the bedrooms.

Kitchen

The kitchen was well equipped. The range was brand new. The laundry equipment was better than usual. There was a very large assortment of tools and utensils.

Problems or Bonuses

We stayed in 20 self-catering places during our time in Europe. This is one of the top 3 or 4 places we found. It was wonderful -- or as the British say, "brilliant!" The owner really has worked hard to make her cottages really nice, and they are.

Chipping Campden is a perfect Cotswold village, and is a really nice place to stay. I can think of nothing about this place that is less than perfect, except that I'm not there now! Sure wish I could go back often.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The owner acts as her own agent. Note that her website offers several properties. I am not sure if she owns them all, or if she owns some and manages others. I would not hesitate to recommend anything for which Sheila is responsible.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Oh yes, 100%!

Things to do in this area

There is no shortage of wonderful things to see and do around the Cotswolds. Enjoy!
