Studio apartment in Kensington, London WhenMay 2009, 5 nights LocationThe apartment was located on a quiet residential street in Kensington, near the Earls Court tube stop. The apartment was in a townhouse that contained other apartments offered by the same owner. The area was nice and convenient. Nearby AmenitiesThere was a Tesco supermarket just around the corner, less than 1/4 mile away. The Tesco had a Costa coffee shop within it and offered a good selection of prepared foods in addition to regular groceries. It was open 24 hours a day except Sunday. There were restaurants and shops nearby on Earls Court Road, also less than 1/4 mile away. The Earls Court tube stop was also on Earls Court Road, about 4/10's of a mile away. We enjoyed the Scarsdale Arms pub, which was just north of Cromwell Road. The House/ApartmentOur flat was on the second floor (third floor, US). There were six other studio apartments and a two bedroom apartment located in the same townhouse building. It was located on Longridge Road, a quiet residential neighborhood. The building had been recently renovated. It had a modern kitchenette and bathroom facilities. GardenThere was a small balcony that looked onto the road. There were no seats there, but we opened the French doors in the evening since it was unusually warm while we were there. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was new and in good shape. The apartment was clean. They offer twice weekly maid service during the week, but since we were there through a holiday weekend, the maid only came once the day before we left. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bed was comfortable, but it was advertised as a King bed and it was more like an American Queen bed in size. The bathroom had updated features but a tiny stall shower. Everything worked just fine except the only electrical outlet in the bathroom was for shavers only. My wife used a kitchen outlet to plug in her blow dryer and curling iron. That was a little awkward. KitchenThe kitchenette was small but worked okay to make coffee in the morning. We didn't try to make any other meals. It was a tight fit between the sink and the breakfast table. Problems or BonusesThe only surprise was that the bed was smaller than we expected and that wasn't a huge deal. Agency and Representatives (and price)The booking process was done via e-mail and by the agency calling us the get credit card information. We were there in May and paid £125 per night. We were given a code for the front door and then a code for a safe that contained our keys. There was a phone number for an on site person if we needed her, but we didn't call. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I might stay there again. I think I might like to experience other parts of London first, but I liked the area and everything worked well. Things to do in this areaWe went sightseeing. Took the tube to see Big Ben, Kensington Palace, Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, 10 Downing Street. We particularly liked the Cabinet War Rooms and Churchill Museum. We also took the train to Hampton Court Palace and we saw a play, Jersey Boys.
