Great B&B with a European flair.

I stayed at this B&B while moving my daughter to college at Cal Poly.

This is a former motel, now owned by a lovely couple, John and Dianne Conner. This is a small 2 story place with a beautiful cobblestone courtyard welcoming you in the front and a quiet brick patio with comfortable seating in the back.

All the rooms have different themes. I stayed in Au Bon Marche, a double Queen room. The room was tastefully decorated, the beds were comfortable, the towels soft and fluffy. There were 2 soft robes in the armoire and all the bath products were L'Occitane. There is no air conditioning, but there is a ceiling fan. Wireless Internet and a CAT 5 cable are available in the rooms.

Breakfast, included in the price and served in the pleasant dining room and back patio, is wonderful! At the buffet, there is coffee, tea, fresh OJ, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal and toast. Freshly baked biscotti, scones and coffee cake are made everyday. You have a choice of 2 -3 breakfast dishes. The 2 days we were there, I had a spinach and bacon strata and a ham and cheese quiche. My son had the Grand Marnier french toast and the fresh strawberry and blueberry pancakes.

Between 5-6:30 PM every day, there is a wine tasting, also included in the price. Hors doeurves are also served. Lemonade and soda are also available.

Next door to the B&B is a restaurant, the Splash Cafe, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The parking lot is shared with the B&B. The location is on a main street and 2 blocks away from passing trains. The noise may bother some people, but the amenities of staying at this place outweighed the noise to me. The owners are extremely personable and friendly. Dianne made a point of stopping by during breakfast and greeting everyone by name and making sure we had all we needed. I already have reservations for the next 3 times I will be back to San Luis Obispo.
