We stayed at Warren's Inn in Schroon Lake, NY for (alas, only) one night. As a rule, I usually prefer hotels to B&B's. If I don't know the proprietors, I'm wary - I'm going to be staying at their house ... will I like them? Well, Ann and Howard are the perfect B&B hosts - warm and welcoming. After about 2 minutes, I felt like I could easily be friends with them. They went out of their way to make us comfortable. Their sprawling house right on Schroon Lake is in terrific shape, the beds, bedrooms and communal areas are very comfortable, and Howard makes a wonderful breakfast. But most of all, I so enjoyed their company. I would heartily recommend staying with them in this area in New York State's Adirondack Mountains, which has much to offer tourists, historically and scenically. In the summer, don't miss performances at the Seagle Music Colony. www.seaglecolony.com. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
