This is your basic, comfortable Doubletree hotel (what my kids call "the cookie hotel" because of the warm cookies at check-in). The location, while pretty close to the Pier and Third Street Promenade isn't great because you need to walk across a highway overpass or around some industrial buildings to get there. More of an issue for us was the vibration and noise which woke us every morning at 5 am, even after changing rooms. There's a huge exhaust fan above the kitchen on the back side of the building (where the cheaper rooms are) which you can feel and hear on both the third and fifth floors. There are also Housekeeping laundry rooms on this side of the building, and you can hear the rumble of dryers and bang of doors when housekeeping begins in the early morning. Staff was very pleasant and apologetic about moving us, less pleasant when we complained on our second morning. We heard from other guests they also had issues with the noise.
