If you want to visit Paso Robles and stay right in the downtown area, I don't think you could do better than Emily's House. We stayed there in its B&B mode, but you can rent the whole house as a vacation rental. It's on a quiet street, but only a few blocks from all the great downtown restaurants. The house is nicely decorated, everything very clean, well-kept and quite spacious, with a lovely patio and back yard.

Vicki, the owner (Emily is her granddaughter), had wine and cheese for us when we arrived, cooked wonderful breakfasts, and could not have been more helpful in making recommendations for favorite wineries we might visit. We very much enjoyed getting to know her and chatting with her.

We stayed in the downstairs master suite, which was quite comfortable. Note that the description on the web site says that this room has a king-sized bed, but it is actually a queen. That room has a private bath with a large walk-in shower. We paid $199 / night midweek; it's a bit more on the weekend.

There are three more bedrooms upstairs. Two of them appeared to have king beds, but they shared one bathroom off the hall. There is one other smaller bedroom with a newly added private bath. The kitchen is huge and looks to be wonderfully well equipped. Vicki was more than willing to let us use the fridge for storing a few things. The Wi-Fi connection in the house worked very well.

This was our fifth visit to Paso, and Emily's House is definitely the nicest place of any we've stayed. We highly recommend it and hope to return there on future trips. Returning visitors, by the way, get a discount on their stay.
