Lovely, warm and welcoming B&B overlooking a peaceful bird sanctuary. Minutes from Marina del Rey; easy walk to the small town of Playa del Rey.

Loved this B&B! From the moment we arrived on the Friday night of Memorial Day weekend until we left on Monday morning, we were treated with friendly warmth and helpfulness from the staff.

The B&B was easy to reach; about 5 minutes from the Marina Freeway (90). Private parking on the property with a locked gate after 11pm. (Guests are given the code to open it.)

A friend and I shared the elegantly but comfortably decorated two-bedroom suite on the 3rd floor. She had the spacious corner room with a king bed, sofa, fireplace, ensuite bathroom with shower, and a balcony overlooking the bird sanctuary.

My large room was next door, with a comfortable queen bed, writing desk in front of the wide windows, ensuite tiled bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi tub. The view out the windows (which all opened to let in the breeze) was of the marshes and looking north on Culver Blvd. Good lighting in the room and bathroom; the bathroom also had a pull-out magnifying mirror. In-room temperature controls.

There were connecting doors between the rooms ... which made it easy for me to take advantage of the balcony. ;) The rooms included cozy chenille throws that we wrapped around ourselves when sitting on the balcony.

Both rooms had TVs and VCRs; videos were available for guests to borrow.

We really liked that the Inn and bedrooms weren't "over decorated." The Inn had a soft nautical/seashore theme, and the room decor subtly followed a "cottage at the beach" motif.

The Inn's common rooms - Living Room and Breakfast Room - had comfortable furniture, good lighting, newspapers (including the New York Times) and local reading material. Both rooms had gas fireplaces. Wine and snacks were served in the living room daily between 5:30pm and 7. The spacious living room had floor to ceiling windows and French doors; its long balcony overlooked the sanctuary. There was also an interior courtyard with tables and chairs on the 1st floor.

Breakfast included a variety of fresh fruit, yogurt, some type of hot dish (Monday morning was artichoke quiche - yum!), bagels, cereal, and juice. Coffee and tea were available around the clock. There was an "honor refrigerator" near the reception desk, stocked with bottled water and soda.

We were "out and about" during the days, so didn't take advantage of the bikes available for guests or the outdoor areas of the Inn.

The website is perfectly representative - but note that the Inn is right ON Culver Blvd. There wasn't much traffic, but rooms at the back might be the quietest.

I felt pampered by the staff and the luxurious surroundings. We highly recommend the Inn at Playa del Rey for a peaceful and relaxing getaway!
