The Marriott was the preferred hotel for a recent industry conference I attended; it's right next to the San Diego Convention Center. The waterfront location is ideal for morning walks. The hotel's within just a couple of blocks of the shops and restaurants at Seaport Village. It's near enough to the cruise ship port and WWII historic trail to make a nice outing. One evening we walked a few blocks into downtown for a fabulous dinner at The Oceanaire seafood restaurant. The hotel has a large high ceilinged marble lobby. Down the hallway towards the North Tower room elevators are a couple of gift shops, a Starbucks with a seating area overlooking the pool, and a pub-style restaurant. Downstairs has a cafe, and across the grounds is a Roy's Hawaiian-fusion restaurant. My 18th floor room overlooked Harbor Drive, the convention center and downtown. The king-sized bed was comfortable, and there was a cozy chair with a reading lamp next to the window. There were the standard room amenities, including a coffee maker and Internet access (daily fee). Room rate was $241 plus tax per night.
