Stayed 4 nights at the Metro Hotel. Clean, comfortable bed, quiet room with new tile shower. Good price for San Francisco. Would stay there again.

We stayed at the Metro over Thanksgiving 2009 because of its location. Relatives live within walking distance. We had Room 104, an interior room so noise was not an issue. Our room was clean and appeared to have fresh paint and new tile shower.

The room is like many small European hotels where I've stayed in that the room is small by current US standards. The lavatory is not in the shower/toilet room but faces into the bedroom.

The room had a comfortable queen bed although the room was probably designed for a smaller double bed. There was a nice ceiling fan and the electrical system seems to have been redone recently since the overhead light switches and the fan switch were electronic variable switches. I read other reviews about the temperature control in some of the rooms but we found it comfortable.

There was a small cable TV, phone and a clock radio. They advertise Wi-Fi but we didn't try it.

The reception area is manned 7:30 AM until midnight. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The hotel did not provide hand face towels or coffee. I think they should offer coffee in the lobby, but they don't.

We went to the corner for coffee the first morning. The next several mornings we went to the KK Cafe across the street in the next block up the street. We also went to the Grind Cafe for lunch one day. Both were good. The Croissant breakfast sandwich at the KK Cafe was very good.

Our bill for the four nights at the Metro was right at $400 including the local taxes. 3 or 4 city bus lines have stops within 2 blocks of the hotel. Parking is street parking only, which was not an issue for us since we did not have a car.

I would not hesitate to stay there again.
