Ivins: Red Mountain Spa

Reviewed by: SusieL from CA, review #2973

Beautiful spa situated among breathtaking scenery

I am giving this a neutral rating because of just one thing that disappointed me. Others may not mind.

The countryside is breathtaking, all red rocks just outside of St. George. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and immaculate. There is an outdoor pool with views of the rocks, as well as an indoor pool. Hammocks abound in the lawn areas. I was there for only one night, so I did not visit the spa.

The welcome was warm and I was shown to the building where my room was. This is the disappointing part. None of the rooms have a private balcony or patio. It is sort of motel-style, whereby the only entrance or egress is the front door of your room. I paid extra for a mountain view room and looked forward to relaxing in a private space, drinking in the views. Not to be. The only people I saw sitting outside of their rooms had dragged chairs from their rooms and were sitting in front of their doors. I decided to wander the grounds and did some serious hammock time though, which I enjoyed.

The room itself was very comfortable. Great mattress, luxury linens, beautiful bathroom, very spacious.

I dined in the restaurant that evening and it was very welcoming as well. They have a communal table for solo travelers if that is desired. I elected to sit outside and drink in the magnificent views. The menu has many spa type dishes, as well as more conventional fare, a nice wine list and the price I considered to be moderate.

I would not hesitate to return except for the lack of the private balcony or patio.

I believe the rate was $229 per night and this was low season as it is very hot in September.
